One of Boise′s major attractions is the neighboring mountains and the Boise Foothills. The foothills, to the immediate north of the city, are popular for hiking and mountain biking. During the summer many residents enjoy boating, jet-skiing and swimming at Lucky Peak Reservior and floating the Boise River which meanders through the middle of town. For winter recreation, Bogus Basin Mountain Resort provides excellent skiing and snowboarding facilities within an hour′s drive of downtown. Semi-professional sports teams in Boise include the short-season Class A Boise Hawks (Minor League Baseball), the Idaho Steelheads of the East Coast Hockey League, and the Idaho Stampede of the Continental Basketball Association. The BSU Broncos football team has garnered national attention and continues to be a force to be reckoned with out on the field.
